Kutai Logistics Base (KLB) owned by PT. Ranji Karya Sakti was established in 1981 over 46 Ha area and has the potential to be developed up to 100 Ha. KLB is one of Shorebase in the Delta Mahakam that can be simultaneously operate more than 3 vessels in the same time at Jetty which are connected with Dolphin and walkway along 700 meters. The Shorebase facilities including 23.000 m2 Covered Warehouse, a large enough Open Yard, Pipe Yard, PLB / Bonded Area, Inspection Area, Work Shop & Fabrication, Mess / Accommodation, Office Reps as well as distribution / hub center which is quite impressive.
Kutai Logistic Base PT. Ranji Karya Sakti is the first logistic base in Delta Mahakam, Sanga-Sanga, Kal-Tim and has been operating for almost 25 years.
Kutai logistic port location is very strategic, its located in the active runway of the Mahakam river.
Historical Brief
- Having a permit as a special port for oil and gas industry activities, equipped with several permits that are very needed in its function as a logistic base, including permits as destination ports and permits as Bounded Areas
- KLB has sea and land access.
- The current area of KLB is 46 hectares.
- KLB has a port pool of around 900 meters X 300 meters.
- Depth / draft port 8 (eight) meters from high tide position and 10 (ten) meters from tide position
When it began operations in 1995, KLB was immediately utilized by all the related Services Company to support the activities of TOTAL INDONESIE K3S (TEPI), such as Baroid, Halliburton, Dowell, Schlumberger, Apexindo, Anadrill, Hitek Offshore Nusantara, Baker Hughes, Milchem Indonesia, etc., then TOTAL INDONESIE K3S became the main tenant around 2002 with a 5 (five) year contract.
Initially KLB was built at the request of the TOTAL EP INDONESIE K3S (TEPI) KKS in 1993, because the Tanjung Batu Balikpapan logistic base that they were using at that time was too far to handle Mahakam block operational activities which were centralized in Handil 2 and Senipah which could not accessed by land, causing a double handling with the port of Public Port Balikpapan.
Preceded by the appointment of a location by the survey team representative of all petroleum stakeholders or KKS operating around the Mahakam Delta (TOTAL, HUFFCO, Unocal, Tesoro, and Pertamina) together with the Samarinda Port Authority and the Navigation Authority and representatives of 5 (five) companies that took part in the bidding process in the provision of the required logistical base facilities, the outbreak was chosen as the best location to support the operational The KKS.
